Business Development: Setup & Usage Guide
Everything you need to configure the Business Development module and start using it daily — from initial setup through advanced signal-based plays.
SetupPart 1: Initial Setup
Before using Growth Inbox or Signals, complete these three configuration steps.
1. Define Your ICP
Go to Settings → Preferences → Signals and configure:
| Setting | What to Enter |
|---|---|
| Company size | Revenue or employee ranges that match your ideal buyer |
| Location | Geographies you serve or want to target |
| Industry | Verticals you specialize in |
| Titles | Job titles of your ideal buyers (free text) |
| Hiring roles | Roles your prospects hire for — if they're hiring for this, your services could replace or complement it |
| Competitors | Competitor accounts to track (use people profiles over company pages) |
2. Upload Your LinkedIn Connections
Go to Network and upload your Connections.csv file from LinkedIn. See the LinkedIn Connections Download Guide for details.
3. Customize Company Research (Optional)
Under Settings → Company Research, adjust what research Gia surfaces when you click into a prospect's profile.
Part 2: Daily Workflow — Growth Inbox
Growth Inbox is your daily starting point. Gia curates 5–10 people to reach out to each day, based on ICP fit, lookalike signals, and engagement activity.
For Each Person, Gia Provides:
- Why they're a good fit (e.g. close lookalike to existing clients)
- Why you should reach out now (the triggering signal)
- A pre-drafted personalized email
Sending Outreach
Email path:
- Review the AI-drafted email — edit it or swap in a saved template
- Click Fetch Email if needed (Gia enriches it in real time)
- Hit Send — the contact is automatically added to Prospects
LinkedIn path:
- Click into the prospect's LinkedIn profile from Gia
- Use Gia's AI to draft a personalized LinkedIn message
- Copy and send the message on LinkedIn directly
- Come back and click Add to Prospects, logging what you did
Tagging Prospects
| Tag | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sent message | Initial outreach done |
| Demo | They agreed to a meeting |
| Use case | What they're interested in |
Part 3: Signal-Based Plays
Once you've worked through your daily Growth Inbox, head to the Signals tab for targeted prospecting based on specific triggers.
Recommended Weekly Play: Content Engagers (Every Friday)
Filter: ICP fit + engaged with my content + last 7 days
This gives you a short list of ~20 people who already know your name. These are the warmest prospects — reach out in a value-led, authentic way.
Competitor Engagement Play (Daily)
Filter: ICP fit + engaged with a competitor
Send ~15–20 blank LinkedIn connection requests per day (no note — acceptance rates are 30–40% higher without one).
Hiring Signal Play
Filter: ICP fit + hiring for a relevant role
Toggle on your entire company's network to see across everyone's connections.
Part 4: Leverage Your Best Customers' Networks
In Settings → Preferences → Signals, add one of your best customers as a "competitor" to track. Gia then surfaces ICP-fit people engaging with that person's content.
Ask for warm intros: Review who's engaging with your top customer and reach out for introductions.
Direct outreach with social proof: Mention the shared connection in your message.
Part 5: Exporting Data
- Go to Signals and build your filters
- Click Export → CSV
- Upload to your sequencing tool, CRM, or email platform
